Nice, quiet place to stay. Sand on the beach is little bit rough against your feet, after a long walk you really feel it. Only let down is the service, most likely because they don t understand English that well and like in my case when they booked wrong for me , they got pissed off like it was my fault.

Highly rated. The best food on the Island and averages 160baht a dish. Fabulous hosts. All you need for accommodation - room with fan, own bathroom, deck with hammock, by the beach. Have returned with family 5 times now. [R24 integr.ERR:escaping]

Wir hatten das günstigste Fan Bungalow inkl. Badezimmer. Da dies direkt angrenzt und kein Fenster hat, wurde es schnell sehr feucht im ganzen Bungalow. Innerhalb dessen gab es keine Sitzmöglichkeiten aus des Betts, welches von dem Moskitonetz umgeben ist. Auch die Möglichkeiten seine Sachen zu ordnen sind bei der Größe eingeschränkt. Das Restaurant vor Ort ist recht teuer im Vergleich zu dem was abends auf dem Markt angeboten wird und schneidet auch im Vergleich zu gleichpreisigen Restaurants schlecht ab. Die Anlage ist direkt am Strand gelegen, was positiv zu bewerten ist, dennoch ist das Wasser dort sehr trüb und kein im Wasser schwimmendes Lebenszeichen zu erkennen. Diese Tatsache, und das wir die einzigen am Strand waren, ließ uns stutzen, kann aber auch eine Fehleinschätzung unsererseits sein. Wir würden kein zweites Mal dort Baden gehen. Entfernung zum Fisherman Village: 15 Minuten. Rollermietung am Hotel: 200 Baht am Tag. [R24 integr.ERR:escaping]

The room wasn t cleaned at all in the 3 nights stay, the covers and pillows felt filthy and when I asked for a clean sheet the staff was rude. Before even checking in I was being pressured into buying a return journey. Poor customer service and the room felt tiny and dingey.

A lot of money stolen in our bungalow. The woman (one of the boss) didn t help supporting her staff. The thief didn t recognise the facts and lied to her of course putting us in a bad position. Then the woman was not cooperative and unpleasant at all for the rest of the trip. They organise tours but make a lot of commissions on them (ex: 2500 bahts for a trip of 1500 bahts), same with taxis: your order a taxi to the aiport and they appear with their own car using it as a taxi, they charge you the same price and don t even help you with the luggage. Hygiene: check your food, some metal in my breakfast. [R24 integr.ERR:escaping]

Väldigt enklar rum som inte städades varje dag, när vi bad om mer toapapper skulle de städa så hade vi sagt till kanske de hande städat oftare? Endast en av personalen kunde lite engelska, vilket var ett problem. Det kanske inte är ordinarie personal under lågsässong? Maten var ok, fint läge vid stranden, och det blev rätt mat trots att de inte kunde ett ord engelska! Saknade solstolar, lånade solstolar på hotellet brevid. Läget var bra, nära stranden och marknaden fredag kväll. Stranden var ok, lite gyttjig botten och grumligt vatten, men bra att det blev djupt med en gång så man enkelt kunde doppa sig.

We are very satisfied with our staying in the Free House. Everything was going without any complikation. The bungalows are simple, but nice and clean and in a good relation to the price - directly on the beach. The restaurant is really good, same as the massage directly at the Free House at the beach! The owner is a very kind and sympathic person, the most of the staff also!

The Free House lacked friendly staff. I had the feeling the staff treated it as a job and were not very happy about it. The food was ok but rather pricey and not good value. The only thing that saved it was the location on the beach. The restaurant bill was presented in Thai and in a surly manner by the person in charge. All in all it was rather disappointing and I would not stay there again.

I was not happy with my stay at Free house and checked out a day early even tho I paid for the time...their WIFI didn t work for 2 days and it s a very long walk to the village from their location. Their drink & food prices are higher than in the village. Room was very small with no table or chair...basic..basic suitable for backpackers but I was looking for more comfort. I wouldn t stay here again.

We stayed 3 families at Free House. A real retro backpacker feeling. Not along the best beach but good, price worthy bungalows, really nice and friendly staff and probably the best food along the beach. If you ask for Thai spicy you actually do get Thai spicy for once. [R24 integr.ERR:escaping]

Very nice place, enjoyed our time there, always disappointed not to have wi-fi in our room but it works well in the restaurant and when sat right on the beach who really wants the internet anyway! they have dogs which let it down for us. Plus food rather pricey for us backpackers. Nice bungalows though, cosey atmosphere rather than larger resorts without being too personal. cleaned regularly and restaurant directly onto beach. We stayed in a fan bungalow that came with a mosquito net for 400baht. Great price. Porch outside had a hammock that we made good use of. Everything worked. Sand on the beach is a little coarse and hurts the feet, but the water was pretty nice. Restaurants in the nearby area are much cheaper and the food is just as good so we didn t really eat at the resort because the food was really overpriced. The bungalow was cheap so we d stay there again, but I wouldn t recommend eating in the restaurant, and the bungalows don t have wifi. Oh and water is expensive! Buying from the marts nearby is like a tenth the cost. Fishermans village is more of a 20min then 10min walk so we only went once but it was fun.

Nice bungalows clean basic and modern. However would never stay or reccomend it to anyone due to the thai people at the place. The woman at reception who we ordered a taxi with for the next morn at 430 clearly didn t book it even though she took 500 baht off us. Leaving us waiting half an hour and having to deal with drunken thai men sat in reception/restaurant who would not help us. One man got very aggressive who was in charge of property too and shouted in my face we were scared he was going to hit me! Needless to say that what is a nice place does not contain nice people and provided us with quite a scary ordeal at 430 in the morning! The restaurant is also v standard food completely overpriced. Nous avons passé un agréable séjour, avec un personnel très aimable et sympathique. Les bungalows sont simples mais très propre et les draps changés tout les deux jours. Parfait. Le resto est très bon et sur la plage; nous avons mangé tous les soirs à l hôtel... Alors que cela n était pas notre intention au départ... We had the family bungalow, which was big enough for five people. The staff was really nice and helpfull!!! Last time (2009) we stayed at Free House bungalow just the two of us but it suites for families as well! Too much humidity in the room, the bed was wet every night... And the owner is quiet snob. Kitchen : very good green curry. Kind staff but they lost their smile. Perfect location in Bophut, rather quiet. We decided to leave 2 days before the end (of the reservation) , and Free House make us paid an half nigth sup. This was a great place to start our holiday. The only problem i could find was the staff speak very little english but were still very friendly and helpful.The restaurant is a little over priced compared to the surrounding restaurants. [R24 integr.ERR:escaping]

nice clean little bungalows, 10 second walk to the beach, friendly people, we had the family bungalow (2 ajoining bungalows), this was our most expensive accomadation while in thailand(nearly 2000 baht per night) in my opinion not worth it, maybe 1200 a night would be closer to the mark [R24 integr.ERR:escaping]

The first expression that hit us when we entered the bungalow was an sign, stating what we aren´t allowed to do. Personally i don´t like these type of signs since the make me feel unwelcome. One of the things stated in this rule sign was that we was not allowed to bring any food or drinks into the area and that if we should drink or eat we should eat from the resturant. But if we should have been eating and drinking from the resturant we would have been broke after just one week, since the prices was way too high, normally we walked 100m and bought everything at thai prices instead which usually was less than one third of the price in the resturant. Sometimes we ate in the resturant though, food is ok, but their ice cream had seen better days - i guessed that it had been frozen several times after power outage, but one would could whish that they keep eyes on stuff like this and don´t charge as if it would be the best icecream in the world. Staff was friendly and the overall experience was very positive. [R24 integr.ERR:escaping]

we stayed at free house bungalows 5 nights.all i can say it was not a pleasant stay.lets start with the rooms.we have booked one connected family bungalow.first of all the roof from the bungalow is made of cheap aluminium.all the time there have been falling down fruits from the trees on the rooftop of our bungalow which created a serious noise and made it difficult to relax and sleep. there no mosquito nets on the windows,so you will share the bungalow with all kind of mosquitos. the rooms is very small and made with cheapest materials.there is no space to store your cloth or lugguage.no TV and no fridge.the blanket was paper thin.they clean the room and change the towels only every 2 days which is unacceptable because of the high humidity the towels are always wet. most of the staff is very lazy and unfriendly.the beach restaurant is way overpriced but the food was ok.however you can find better restaurants on the beach or in bophut village.one small bottle water for example cost 40baht which is ridiculous.the beach is really nice and quite, perfect for an relaxing family holiday.oh and the small road or i should call it better dirt track which leads to the free house bungalos is terrible with huge holes and no lights.all in all i would definnetly not stay there again.there are much better options on bophut beach.you can get a bungalow with fridge, Air con, TV for 850baht/night and facilities include a swimming pool as well. The accommodation was lovely and the view from the restaurant was picture perfect. However, the food was a little expensive and I would recommend hiring a motorbike from another provider. Great place for romantic getaway but if you are looking for action it is a little far away from clubs and pubs.

The bungalow (wood cottage)was not that what we expected... a lot of moskitos, spiders were in the bungalow, because they are open...We could not relaxe in the bungalow and I think for 800 THB is too much for such a bungalow! Food in free house bungalow was excelllent but I think that is not cheap to stay when you compare it to other locations in Ko Phangan or the west of Ko Samui... The service and the people at free house bungalow were very friendly.. Beach was ok and also the location but I would not recommend to stay there.. [R24 integr.ERR:escaping]

The service was bad. The servicepersonal didn t understand english. things we orderd were brought incorrectly or counted twice. when we wanted to talk about that they weren t cooperative and the result was that we ate at other restaurants. it wasn t the first time we were to thailand so we know that everything is not perfect but until this the personal was cooperativ everytime. we don t recommend this resort. Everything fine. Loved the leafy, shady gardens, the rustic look, the family atmosphere with frendly staff and dogs. Food was excellent (especially the home-made brown bread). Staff English could have been better but the friendliness could not. I d certainly recommend Full House for a good budget holiday.

We enjoyed staying at the Free House: the beach is very nice, the area is quiet, the restaurant is quite good, and the rooms are very clean. We just got a fan room, and that was fine for us. The room was small (just enough to walk around the bed), but it s nice to have a safe in the room (no charge), plus the shower worked well and had hot water -- something one can t count on. Nous avions réservé un wood cottage sur la photo on croyait avoir de l espace, c était très étriqué. C est âbimé par le climat tropical. We just loved it! We booked for two weeks more,so we stayed a total of three weeks. Good for both familys, adults and backpackers. Good prices,good food with avarey of dishes, but we strongly recomend Thai food. Nice people working there, werry helpful , and helped booking arangements.You live 10 steps from the water.Close to other places if you want to look around. It s an easy accomodation, but clean and friendly.We will go back.

Thank You to all the staff[friends] that made our stay fantasic we made friends for life. it was service with a smile coming from the heart, you have to stay in order to judge. rooms are basic but it has what yu need. the food was the best on the beach, and the restaurant was always busy. the best noodle soup fresh thaifood. and the best pizza on the island. its a nice family run hotel. and we will return because we found a hotel that makes you feel good, and respects the guest. we will recomend this hotel to all our friends hans and james [R24 integr.ERR:escaping]

The most amazing service,location and food on our entire trip through the east starting in Singapore ,through Malaysia and Thailand from the South to the north and to three islands. Very nice, friendly and helpful staff, excellent service, excellent food, perfectly cooked thai dishes! Bungalow didn´t have mosquito shields in the windows, so we used the air condition although would have preferred fan and fresh air. Bungalows look better on the internet than they really are. Hammock on the terrace was not usable for adults. But we liked the unique bathroom. There is no goal taking bungalow closer to the beach as there is restaurant between them and the beach and all the houses are situated next to each other. Bungalow interior was very basic although we booked higher class bungalow, so it was a bit disappointing. Nevertheless it was clean, bedsheets and towels as well, A/C worked very well. Shower flow was a bit too weak. Surrounding is very calm and relaxing, very good intelligent music at the restaurant, food was very tasty and the prices were not the highest in the area. Definitely thumbs up for the restaurant! Staff was OK, but could me more friendly. [R24 integr.ERR:escaping]

We asked for a hut with twin beds, it was more like a huge double as they were pushed together but this was not a problem. The hut was very small, only really room for the bed...however this was not really an inconvenience as me and my friend had packed light so didnt really need too much space. The bathroom was exellent. The hut was cleaned every day, new sheets and towels provided. There was a safe in the hut too which was very convenient. Great value for money! The hut itself was just about 10 metres from the beach, which had designated seating and loungers etc. Couldn t really ask for more! The restaurant/bar area was also really good. The food is reasonably priced, fresh and extremely tasty! Must also give a mention to the staff. We had the most contact with a lady by the name of Tip. She was so helpful and friendly, we had to arrange different travel plans and excersions and she arranged all of this without a moments hesitation and all ran smoothly. All staff smiley and helpful. This was the second time I have been to these Buglows and they were excellent value for money. It is quite rare to find such affordable bungalows in Samui. Great place to stay and at a very good price. Kayak and scooters available for rent and the staff were really nice with helping with anything else. A nice walk along the beach to restaurants/bars and shops. The bungalows were charming. Just had some unpleasant smells from the bathroom in the room but occurred after flushing. We enjoyed our stay there. The room was small but very clean and provided a large bed, a spacious bathroom and a moskito net. Details like a safe and free water bottles surprised us. My partner and I thoroughly enjoyed our time at the Free House Bungalow. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The bungalows themselves were also very good. All in all, it was an extremely good holiday and we are planning on returning next year but this time we will stay for longer.

Freehouse is on bophut beach which is quite nice, sort of chilled out vibe. we stayed in wodden bungalows which only had a fan for air con which got a bit hot. when we arrived we had second thaught about staying but once we settled in it was great. the restraunt was realy good, nice food at a good price, and a wiked location right on the beach. a bit of looking around though and im shure youd find better.

ok but beer and ice cream overpriced. There are a lot of dogs around & one powerful dog which we were told had bitten someone on the beach.

me and my family had a lovely stay at freehouse.the kids did not want to leave.the people there were wonderful,accomodation ok,but who goes to thailand to spend time in a room.you also get the best corn on the cob sold on the beach here at bophut.food in the restaurants here expensive,but still cheaper than in england.would definately come again, made a great start to our holiday. Nice and simple place. Nice stuff except the arrogant owner. God food, nice beach. We moved to World Resort, nearby, nice resort with a pool and breakfast buffet included, for the same price. [R24 integr.ERR:escaping]

The Free House is situated on a beautiful beach with fabulous views of the sea. The staff are all extremely friendly and helpful and will also help you to book any trips. The food is gorgeous; infact so nice we didn t eat anywhere else for 6 nights. All in all a marvellous place to stay and we would recommend it to anyone who wants a laid back relaxing holiday

We have in no way to appreciate the free house bungalow to Koh Samui. The reception is unpleasant, price lists(rates) were raised(were brought up) for little of comfort and cleanliness of the bungalow. We stayed at 5 nights and not only once the household(housework) was made. No change of towel(briefcase) either. We reserved a bungalow with big bed and warm water. We had the right(law) of credit note of the warm water that 3 days after our arrival. The manager and the staff Laughed at it while the repair of the shower set only 2 minutes. Then, an advice(council): AVOID Free House Bungalow to Koh Samui. [R24 integr.ERR:escaping]

The hotel was okay, right on the beach. The room was fine but the 45 baht charge for a bottle of drinking water for the room was exorbitant. We moved to Sandy Resort, nearby, where we had a nice place with a pool and buffet breakfast included, for much less. [R24 integr.ERR:escaping]

Bungalows were very clean but basic (but that is reflected in the price you pay)and more than adequate. The food in the restaurant was good and the family who owned the Bungalows were very friendly. Boput Beach was a very quiet resort and at night if you are wanting atmosphere you will need to head out of Boput. [R24 integr.ERR:escaping]

the beach is beautiful and very quiet. the food was good and very cheap. the room was ok but the bathroom was disgusting. we would not stay again there because there are better apartment for nearly the same price.

We were lucky to come right after the rains stopped, but before more tourists came, so all the beach was ours and the sea was very clean. Bungalow was rather simple, just what we expected for such a low price, a good sleeping place with a hot shower and a fan. We were quite nervous about not having an AC at first, but in the end we didnt even use fan much. November temperature was quite comfortable as is. A good restaurant, just like everywhere in Thailand. :) Right outside the Hotel there was a shop where we bought some tours to see the island, very convenient. During the night Bophut beach is really sleepy - all shops and restaurants are closed, but we ve found a nice establishment down the road, owned by an old-school rock n roll musician from Los Angeles. In other words, many helpful and pleasant people all around the place. :) We had a nice stay there. [R24 integr.ERR:escaping]

Cheap compared to the neighbours, but I think you could probably get better value in the village itself. Hot water in the shower was sporadic, and not available in the sink; the room was only cleaned once during my stay (10 days) and the lighting quite dim. That said, I extended twice as it has a very laid back atmosphere and is fine if you are looking after yourself and not expecting hotel service. Let s face it, who s going to sit in there room all day while on holiday? Friends called and were told I had checked out which was annoying. Check out the massage on the beach out front, they were always busy. [R24 integr.ERR:escaping]

A nice relaxed, family run hotel. It s basic, but for the price very good value. The staff are friendly, the restaurant great and the bar will stay open if you want a few quiet night caps. Art (manager) is hilarious. He literally cracked us up every time he spoke. The staff is very friendly. The bartender is awesome. A very quiet place to stay which was very nice. Bring bug repellant for nightime. You can easily rent cycles and jeeps. Recommended stay. Close to Fisherman s Village where there are several good restaurants. Highly recommended to rent a jeep or cycle and travel around the island. Pack light as there are several places to wash clothes for a very cheap price (30BAT/kg). The sun is scorchingly hot so make sure to pack suntan lotion. The B52 tastes marvelous from the bar. The Chef salad and coffee are good as well.
